With Tenacity, Optimism, Militancy to Decisively Strengthen the KKE

Communist Party of Greece (KKE)

Aleka Papariga, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, held a press conference 18/4 on the enormous social issue of unemployment, which now affects every Greek family, as unemployment according to official statistics has surpassed 21%, while amongst young people it is over 50%.

As A. Papariga stressed, in the election period the question of unemployment will be used by the other parties as a theatre piece, and they foster illusions that investments which support the profitability of capital will reduce unemployment and raise wages and pensions. The KKE has a unified proposal for struggle. Continue reading

The Working of Imperialism in the Era of Globalisation: Draft Ideological Resolution of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)

2.1   The CPI(M), steadfastly upholding Marxism-Leninism and its inviolable tool of ‘concrete analysis of concrete conditions’, evaluates the working of imperialism in the present concrete conditions and its impact on India. The latter is of utmost necessity to work out the correct and appropriate tactics that will advance our strategic objectives.

2.2   Globalisation must be understood in its totality. The internal dynamics of capitalism, as Marx has shown, leads to the accumulation and concentration of capital in a few hands. It is on the basis of a scientific analysis of the development of this tendency that Lenin identified the emergence and growth of imperialism from the stage of monopoly capitalism. The Leninist analysis of the politics of imperialism – the last stage of capitalism – laid the foundations for correct revolutionary strategy and tactics for intensifying class struggles leading, for the first time in human history, to the triumph of the proletarian revolution – the great October Socialist Revolution of 1917. PFLP Will Not Participate in Any Re-Configured Palestinian Authority Government Under Fayyad

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine stated on April 9, 2012 that it will not participate in any way in a new or rearranged Palestinian Authority government under Salam Fayyad. The Front said that any such configuration laks legitimacy, has not been given confidence by the Legislative Council nor does it enjoy a national consensus of national and Islamic forces.

The Front said that any such attempt would only be an obstacle in the path of meaningful national unity and reconciliation and only exacerbate the national crisis. The Front once again reiterated that the Palestinian Authority must cease all forms of security coordination with the occupation.

It said that the governments of the status quo – whether in Gaza or Ramallah – are not sufficient to confront the dangers to the Palestinian people, their land and cause, and urged national unity to confront the occupation and its plans to confiscate Palestinian land and liquidate Palestinian rights.

Ontario has a $16-billion deficit and since economic growth is projected to be slower than we’re used to, there is no easy way back to balance. No wonder public concern is mounting over how the Liberal government intends to raise revenues and reduce costs in its upcoming budget.

It’s a lot of ammunition for any opposition party to work with. And, this week, Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak firmly picked his battleground: more tax cuts for big business. Continue reading

Six Fundamental Characteristics of a Communist Party

by Alvaro Cunhal, Portuguese Communist Party

Editors’ note:  Several months ago, MLT posted Hans-Peter Brenner’s article from the German weekly, Junge Welt, “Of Saviors and Liquidators: V. I. Lenin, Alvaro Cunhal, Sam Webb.”  It cited portions of a 2001 article by Alvaro Cunhal, “Six Fundamental Characteristics of a Communist Party.”

We are grateful to Marcel Hostettler, a Swiss reader, for pointing out that the full article is available in English at the PCP web site: http://www.pcp.pt/en/”six-fundamental-characteristics-communist-party”-álvaro-cunhal.

Below is a translation of Alvaro Cunhal’s presentation sent to the International Meeting on “Vigencia y Actualización del Marxismo,” [The Validity and Renewal of Marxism] organized by the Rodney Arismendi Foundation, in Montevideo, Uruguay, September 15, 2001
.

The 20th century will forever be marked by the 1917 Russian revolution, by the political power of the proletariat and the lasting construction, for the first time in history, of a society without exploiters or exploited. Continue reading

The Same People Who Support Sheriff Joe Arpaio Support Congressman Ron Paul. They’re Called Neo-Nazis.

by Rick Gunderman

Ron Paul hysteria seems to have truly gripped the Internet, and not simply among American users. Virtually every English-speaking country has now produced its share of keyboard cowboys hell-bent on taking up the mission that their hero has handed down to them – to spread the word, since Dr. Paul himself is refusing financial donations from rich people.

Actually, he’s not. And although not rich himself, he’s also not poor. But that’s beside the point.

Neither are his policies the point, although it is worth mentioning some highlights in brief.

A Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing

Dr. Paul has captivated many self-described left-wing activists, mostly those who insist on a “libertarian” bend to their ideology. Aside from revealing the general bankruptcy of “left-wing libertarianism”, it reveals broadly the faults that come with a lack of coherent political theory. Continue reading
